CHUCKSCUSTOMCARTS.COM 9.90 INDEX
We had 15 racers fighting it out to see who would be crowned #1 qualifier, with 3 racers running a 9.90 it came down to a one thousandth of a second difference and in the end the HYDROCUSTOMZ #1 Qualifier was Tim Campbell in his 1982 Firebird with a 9.9087. Eliminations were hard fought with the #1 and #2 in the race for the Points Championship going down in the first round. The RRA consider each other family but in our 9.90 class it literally comes down to family when Tom Hyatt and Chris Hyatt joined Dan Marvin and Ted Miller in the Semi-Finals. Chris Hyatt went on to take on Dan Marvin in his 1990 Chevy Iroc-Z and claim the victory in their double breakout final round. Chris also took home the HEMLY TOOL AND SUPPLY Bounty on the #1 Qualifier.
Congratulations to Chris Hyatt!!!!!

CHUCKSCUSTOMCARTS.COM 9.90 INDEX – 6.30 at the 1/8th Mile
Qualifying was once again incredibly close with only a thousandth of a second separating Hydrocustomz #1 Qualifier Jack Brown (6.302) and Jim Loveland (6.303). When Bob Getsy, who has been sitting on top of the points program all season, went down in round #1 to mechanical failure, it definitely opened the door for Bill Benson, Tom Hyatt or Chris Hyatt to claim the Championship Title over him. However, Jack Brown took down Bill Benson and Chris Hyatt took down Uncle “T” in the second round of eliminations. The Semi-Finals came down to Jack Brown versus John Sundback , Chris Hyatt versus Denny Moore. John Sundback snuck right past Jack Brown into the finals when Jack went red by -.003, and John took the HEMLY TOOL AND SUPPLY Bounty Money. Dennis Moore fought mechanical issues the entire 2012 season but overcame them to come out to the season finale and play spoiler, foiling Chris Hyatt’s chance at the title when he defeated him in the Semi-Finals which meant BOB GETSY became the 1st ever 9.90 POINTS CHAMPION!!!!
CONGRATS TO BOB GETSY – 2012 9.90 POINTS CHAMPION
The Finals came down to John Sundback versus Dennis Moore and when Dennis claimed his first 2012 victory over John he became the Comeback Kid of the 2012 Season proving hard work and perseverance can definitely pay off at the end of the day, or in Dennis’case at the end of the season.
CONGRATS TO DENNIS MOORE!!!

9.90 INDEX
As the Season Finale 9.90 eliminations began The Top 4 guys were Bob Getsy in his 1957 Chevy, Bill Benson in his 1972 Chevy Nova, Tom Hyatt in his 1955 Chevy Belair, and Chris Hyatt in his 1964 Chevy Nova.
Qualifying:
Even though at the end of the day these 4 guys remained up top, it was no relaxing day at the park for them. Jack Brown and his 1980 Ford F-100 along with Jim Loveland and his 1992 Chevy S10 had been gaining ground in hopes of breaking into the Top 4. They were a threat that couldn’t be ignored especially by Tom and Chris. However it just wasn’t meant to be for the trucks of the 9.90 class as they could not pick up enough points to crack into the Top 4 and make the SMACKDOWN.
Eliminations:
The RRA is family and when Bob Getsy’s car broke during the finale, another racer came to his aide keeping his
SMACKDOWN dream a reality. Bob faced Tom Hyatt in round #1 while behind the wheel of Jim Barbone’s 1977 Monza Spyder. Tom took him on the tree to move on to the finals with a 6.36 pass over Bob’s 6.35. Bill Benson had fought hard through mechanical difficulties to be part of the SMACKDOWN but just didn’t have enough to run the number against Chris Hyatt 1st round. That left us with a Hyatt versus Hyatt ~ Winner Takes All Final Round. We have seen this many times this season as a matter of fact earlier that day Chris had stripped Uncle “T” of his chances of winning the RRA Championship title when he took him down in round #2 of eliminations…Well you know what they say about paybacks don’t you!! This time it was Uncle T’s turn to come out on top and walk away your
2012 9.90 SMACKDOWN Winner.
