QUALIFYING
Now that is how qualifying is done!!! Top 5 Racers putting up 8.90 Passes and Top 10 is rounded out with an 8.93...these guys were holding nothing back!!!
It had to be left up to the computers to determine that Chico was in fact the #1 Qualifier as he and Bob Keaton were identical down to the ten-thousandth of a second!! INSANE!!!! |
ELIMINATIONS
19 guys in competition at this years WAR by the SHORE...8.90's largest car count in longer than I can remember, it proves the cars are out there, we just need to draw them in!!!

His 1st Ever 8.90 pass with the RRA came in 2014 at the EXTREME EVENT (precursor to WBTS)
His 1st Ever 8.90 Event Win came in 2015 at the 1st WAR by the SHORE
He became the 1st and only Racer to Successfully Defend that Title at the 2016 WAR by the SHORE

Jack Brown found himself in his 3rd final in as many races and the starting line would once again prove to be his nemesis! Darrin Sotera would block him from a successful defense of his 2015 WBTS title and be crowned the Newest 9.90 WAR by the SHORE Event Winner. This was only Darrin's 2nd race out with the RRA in 2016 but he clearly proved he can back up all that keyboard smack talk once he hits the track!!!
CONGRATS to DARRIN SOTERA and CREW

Dan Addair came out with guns blazing to defend his 2015 WAR by the SHORE title! He claimed the #1 spot with a 10.503, took his 1st round bye run with a solid break out pass on the board but unfortunately some mechanical gremlins would reveal themselves on that very same pass and his shot at defending that title would be cut short.
Someone no one saw coming was Tim Combs, Tim's 1st outing with the RRA was just 2 weeks prior to WBTS at the July 23rd Renegade Double Header. Tim fought past some heavy hitters to make it to the final round. On the other side of the ladder another newbie would find his way to the semi-finals...not exactly a Rookie to the RRA as Nate Cooper is the son of Sue and Kelly Cooper, was great to see him in action. Unfortunately he went .005 red in the semi's to send Mike Carroll to his 2nd WBTS Final. Last year Mike Carroll fell short of taking home the much sought after WBTS trophy but this year it was all his. Tim had him off the starting line but Mike was able to overcome the deficit on the top end for the win!!

29 CARS!!! The 11.50 Class boasted a count of 29 Cars at this years WAR by the SHORE II...that is impressive to say the least!! The 11.50 Class has consistently had strong car counts all year long which is just awesome to see!
Andrew Franko secured himself a spot in the RRA record books that will be hard to beat, he turned 16 on Friday August 5th, heading straight to the BMV made it legal and was out at TRP that night and officially joined the ranks of the RRA on August 6th just one day after turning 16...think this kid has a bright future and will be a tough competitor in the years to come!! Welcome to the RRA Andrew...
Of those 29 racers in competition the last to remain standing was Tim McKenzie...along with his win he would reclaim the Top Spot in the 2016 Summit Racing Equipment Championship Chase!!
