RACE RECAP

RENEGADE RACING ASSOCIATION – SEASON FINALE

For the RRA 2012 Season Finale the Air was Frigid and the Wind blew Cold
yet for those willing to brave the elements the Action was Intense and the Racing was Hot!!!!

With the Points Championships and participation in the ABRUZZI SMACKDOWN on the line any racer who was confident they had a shot at breaking into the Top 5 was there, add a few spoilers into the mix and it made for a great show!!

JIM MIKESINA SECURITY SERVICES 8.90 INDEX –  5.70 at the 1/8th Mile

Qualifying was tight, with 5 guys running passes 5.76 or less.  Brian Prior sealed the deal to become CHUMLEY MOTORSPORTS #1 Qualifier with his 1st pass of the day running a 5.706.  Going into Competition the points race was so close that the Championship could have gone to anyone of the Top 5: Jim Getsy, Chico, Ken Cooper, Scott Williams or Al Matuska. Jimmy Getsy had to battle through Al Matuska in his to meet Ken Cooper in the Semi-Finals, where Jimmy also picked up the SKW Best Reaction Time Bonus.  On the other side of the ladder Chico had to overcome last years “Spoiler of the Year” Scott Williams to meet Brian
Prior in the Semi-Finals. With Chico and Ken being defeated in the Semi-Finals
JIMMY GETSY claimed the title of 2012 8.90 POINTS CHAMPION!!!!

CONGRATS TO JIMMY GETSY – 2012 8.90 POINTS CHAMPION

The finals came down to Jimmy Getsy and Brian Prior. Brian came all the way from New York to run with the RRA every race this  year and he wasn’t going to let the season end without letting these boys know to be on the lookout for him next season because he means business clinching his first RRA victory and also walking away with the V’s HOUSE OF HORSEPOWER Bounty Money.

CONGRATS TO BRIAN PRIOR!!!

MIKE BROWN CUSTOMS 10.50 INDEX – 6.70 at the 1/8th Mile

As always, qualifying is fierce for the racers of our 10.50 class, and with 8 guys coming in at 6.79 and faster it was definitely tight.  Gary Paine ran a 6.705 to once again be TI DYNO’s #1 Qualifier beating out Mike Blair by a thousandth of a second.  Going into competition Mike Carroll pretty much had the Championship clenched, but Gary Paine has been gaining ground and was nipping at right at his heals.  The remaining spots to round out the Top 5 could have been up for grabs by many racers: Jimmy Pelcarsky, Ed Domniak, Phil Nordquist, Eric Corcino, Mike Walker, Jeff Getsy and Tim Chumley all had a chance to secure the positions.   Upon winning round #1 of eliminations
MIKE CARROLL wrapped up becoming the  1st 10.50 Points Champion.

CONGRATS TO MIKE CARROLL – 2012 10.50 POINTS CHAMPION

By the end of round #2 only 2 of the 7 racers listed above remained in competition:  Jeff Getsy and Tim Chumley. The Semi-Finals ame down to Tim Chumley versus Mike Carroll and Jeff Getsy versus Gary Paine. After defeating Gary, Jeff Getsy took home the CREATIVE MOLD AND MACHINE Bounty Money and then went on to officially become the RRA’s youngest racer ever to win
an event.

CONGRATS TO JEFF GETSY!!!

TOMMY COWLE’S OUTLAW LIMITED STREET

Our Outlaw Limited Street class wrapped up the 2012 season by once again having a strong showing; wowing
everyone with their crazy displays of raw horsepower on a small tire. We welcomed 2 new racers to the RRA, and this event also marked their first time out to run at TRP- Ed McGuinn and Karri Anne Beebe, and also welcome back to Scotty G in his first time out with us in 2012.  We look forward to seeing you guys back in action in 2013.  Dave Hinzman locked up the Memorial #1 qualifier in his first pass down the track running a wicked 4.85. The Semi-Finals came down to racers coming from 4 different states:  Dave Hinzman (Ohio) versus Ed McGuinn (New York) and Mr. Z (PA) versus Karri Anne Beebe (Michigan). Ed McGuinn came away from the semi-finals with the QUARTER MILE FINISH Bounty  Bonus  and moved on to face Mr Z in the finals.  Mr. Z took the victory in the finals and he also proved he is ready to step up his level of play with the new kids coming into his playground closing the season with a qualifying pass of 4.99 and an eliminations pass of 4.96 against Karri Anne in the semi-finals. Don Turner has now claimed back to back titles as the most dominant racer of the RRA’s Outlaw Limited Street Class, however Dave Hinzman had him under the gun most of the 2012 season, that being said 2013 is setting up to be off the hook!!!

CONGRATS TO MR. Z – 2012 OLS MOST DOMINANT

Karri Anne Beebe’s running in the Season Finale marks another milestone for the RENEGADE RACING ASSOCIATION. She is the first women to race in the RRA.  It took us 3 seasons to get here and I have to say it is awesome to have the first women be the one who  isn’t intimidated to run with the big boys.  Hope to see a lot more of her in 2013!!!

THANK YOU JIM CURTIS AND THOMPSON RACEWAY PARK FOR A GREAT SEASON!!!!
